Job Description of Unix Administrator
Qualification
Diploma or Bachelors Degree in any disciple (IT stream – Good to Have)
Technical Skills
1 year experience within IT environment
6 to 12 months of Unix Server systems (any flavor) administration experience.
Working Knowledge in Unix Administration (any flavor)
File System Management, Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and Patch Installation – Good to have
Basic Understanding on Remote & Network Configuration items - NTP, DNS, TCP/IP, Hosts, NIS, Telnet, Rlogin, FTP and DHCP
Good communication and customer service skills and the ability and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.

Accurate keyboarding skills
Strong interpersonal and telephone skills
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a systematic and logical manner, and maintain good communications with all relevant parties throughout troubleshooting process. Must understand and apply existing written instructions
Demonstrates keen interest in continuous learning and professional development
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned tasks, problems and requests.
React and adjust positively to change and to new ways of doing things.
Must be fluent in the English language with proficiency in written and verbal English communication skills

General Scope of Work
Incident management - scripted resolution - follows documented instructions (this is the core focus of the CC function).
Operations management – EDN, log and dispatch, scripted routine/scheduled tasks (e.g. routine checks), standard documented requests (e.g. backup/restore), service request administration (if necessary).
